Well I worked a lot last week more than usual, and had to keep up the house, keep the girls going and all the usual so my blog has slipped. I do miss it and thought of it constantly I'm going to attempt to get back on track now!
I thought why not start with telling you a bit about my week last week... I worked Sunday 8.5 hours, had Monday off, than had to be at work tues morning at 4:30 meaning the alarm was set for 3:30. Made it through tues morning no problem off work by 9. Met up w/ DH and we hung out for a bit did a few things around the house, bought a piece of peg board to hang in the garage to organize tools, also got a sheet of dry erase board and hung that up in the family room. I attempted a bit of a nap before making dinner and heading to work for a meeting Tuesday night. Home by 9:15 and off to bed to wake up at 1:30a DH was called to a MVA (motor vehicle accident)... attempted to go back to sleep for a bit to wake at 3:30a... off to work again...
made it through my morning shift came home and took a nice long walk w/DH and little t... put something on to cook and headed for a nap... up at 2 to be back at work at 3p... back home by 8:45p... off to sleepyville... i decided to sleep in an extra 15 minutes bcs I had been getting to work a few minutes early just to sit and wait for my coworker. So I got up 15 minutes later 3:45a threw on my clothes poured my coffee (had it set to brew)... and headed out to the jeep... only to find three inches of fresh snow!! lovely... I grabbed a board out of the garage and a broom to sweep off the windshield bcs the scraper was missing somehow... cleared it off enough to get going... and headed out... of course this morning i could have used the extra 15 minutes to get to town safely and slowly. However I didn't have it! So I prayed put it in 4 high and headed out... praying the whole way... I made it just in time... thanking God for my safe arrival!
Somehow I was a zombie heading home Thursday morning after my shift... DH and I had switched cars and I was now driving the mommy missile... it slid all over the road coming home.. was lovin that! made it home safely... and was surprised to find our 140 lb rott had locked himself in the bathroom and freaked out! Making a HUGE mess all over the walls, cupboards, and shower... I wont go into disgusting details but I used up and entire roll of paper towels... it was awful and I was thankful at this point I was in somewhat of a comatose state.
Attempted to get some rest... hanging out with little t in my bed... don't really remember much of the rest of that day or Friday... but than Saturday came along and back to work I went! ..... Sunday worked... Monday I had off ... DH went from work Monday to the fire station to stay until Tues 2p... it was Monday night I discovered my sweet Bailey was having difficulty breathing, wasn't eating and was having a struggle moving about normally. I will do a blog just on that special event.
So that was my last week in a nut shell and I probably have bored you to death with all this rambling... Ill post something a bit more interesting I promise.

Roadside Rhubarb Bread... made with Banana's not Rhubarb
I must admit that taking a picture of my bread posing it w/ some lovely lavender my best friend Tatyana grew in her yard and gave to me does leave me feeling a little dorky. However, in the bigger scheme of things, I have to admit it looks pretty. So here I continue on my adventure to make each and every recipe in this NEW wonderful cook book, the Power of Flour. Today I decided to use those browning banana's in place of rhubarb in Roadside Rhubarb Bread.
In the picture I have salt, brown sugar, oil, an egg, applesauce, bananas, baking soda, whole wheat flour, yogurt and Trictale flour. I however didn't use the oil, and left out the vanilla (in the picture not the recipe)... I decided to use the applesauce in place of the oil bcs well I just wanted to!
So in goes the brown sugar, and apple sauce. Today I had my lovely little assistant Tia who you saw making the silly face in the ingredient photo.
My Tia loves to help me do the action shots and dump the ingredients in!
Here's the yogurt and the dark spot is the vanilla...
Stir it all up until its smooth... Than add the dry ingredients.
Loving the action shots? I know I am... Tia is such a great helper, she knows how to wait until I say okay... now!
In goes the whole wheat flour... The recipe called for Spelt or whole wheat I have yet to purchase any spelt (its on my list) so whole wheat it was. It also called for another flour I don't have yet so I just made adjustments with the Trictale and the whole wheat.
Than it called for nuts and rhubarb, which I didn't have any rhubarb (but would love to try it with this summer)... and I decided to save the little bit of nuts I do have for another day.
So in when the banana's... Today I felt like just dicing them up.. I didn't feel the need to mash thought it might be fun to do something different and have some chunks of banana's in this bread...
Notice my bowl? I collect these to use of course.. My wonderful mom finds them for me at estate sales for really great prices. Every time I look at them in antique shops they are just too expensive!! But they are amazing bowls!
Here's the batter split into two loaf pans... see the one in front? Its one of my new favorite loaf pans... I bought it at the St Vincent De-paul store here in Prineville (love that store) its just old and neat... and does a great job!
And lastly but not least... a nice slice all buttered up with butter from yesterday... so fantastic, tastes so good! Tia ate about five pieces this morning and I'm not even exaggerating!!! I would love to post the exact recipe from the book, but really I just want you to go get the book! Its amazing!!! So here's the link again...
And as much as I would love to see you buy it direct from the publishing company (the one I use to work for..) its cheaper through amazon, and they just buy from the publishing company anyways. So save a few bucks!
One more note... the book is spiral bound, so when you have it open to a recipe, it doesn't close on you!!!!
